He was a WWII Radio Operator on a Bomber and flew 25 missions, and was expected to come home the summer of his death when he was killed in action. He is a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Roy was born in Kenmare, Ward County, ND and attended Minot State Teachers College aka Minot University. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Kenmare, ND. He is survived by two brothers, Glenn WWII Boatswain's Mate 1st class; and Russell, PFC stationed at Camp Roberts, CA at the time, and three sisters, Mrs. Vernon Nelson of Dillon MT. , Thelma Torkelson, Seattle WA and Alta Torkelson of Kenmare, ND. He is missed by the entire Kenmare, ND Community.
