Donald O'Keefe enlisted on the 12th of January 1940 and went overseas after his basic training. He landed on the Pachino beaches on the 10th of July 1943 during Operation Husky.
He was wounded in action on the 6th of December 1943. After spending time in hospital he was killed in action near Pontecorvo and buried in a field grave there. He was later reburied at Cassino War Cemetery.

Donald's parents lived in Fort William, Ontario together with his four brothers and four sisters.
