Last Rites In Davis
For J. W. Cantrell


Services for James W. Cantrell, age 85, were held in Davis in the Bahner chapel, October 16, with burial in Green Hill, here. Rev. K. M. Anderson officiated. Mr. Cantrell was a native of Waco, Texas.

He is survived by 5 sons, Rosco Cantrell, Madill, McKinley Cantrell of Durant, Dinzel Cantrell, J. D. and Jowell Cantrell of Ravia, Oklahoma. Also 5 daughters, Mrs. Maud Price, Little City, Oklahoma, Mrs. Roxey Evans, Madill, Mrs. Cliff Lane, Oklahoma City, Mrs. Carl Lane, Ardmore and Mrs. Pearl Davis, Bromide, Oklahoma.

(The obit has some incorrect info listed in it. Jowell should be Joel. Mrs. Cliff Lane and Mrs. Carl Lane are the wives of his stepson's. Mrs. Pearl Davis is his sister.)

James Cantrell was married twice 1st to Frances Jean "Fannie" Wells. His second marriage was to Sidney Caroline Dickson. Both marriage ended in Divorce.
With Fannie he had the following children:
Grover Cleveland Cantrell
Maude Lee Cantrell
Roxie May Cantrell
McKinley H "Mack" Cantrell
William Roscoe "Little Briss" Cantrell
With his second wife Sidney he had the following children:
William Denzel "Ike" Cantrell
Jay D Cantrell
Joel Amos Cantrell
James and his family applied for membership in the Choctaw Indian tribe. I have found the applications, but have never been able to prove that they were accepted into the tribe.
