Madison Newspaper - October 19, 1968:
Funeral services for Emma M. Zessin, 84, were held on Wednesday, October 2, at 2 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Madison. She passed away Sunday afternoon September 29, at Valley View Lodge where she had been a patient since September 14. She had been in failing health for sometime.
The Rev. John G. Kisling officiated at the services. Mrs. William Blank was the soloist and Shari Nahstedt, the organist. Pallbearers were Walter Kaser, W. G. Whitford, William Gottberg, Robert Zipf, Paul Robertson and Verl Nahrstedt. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Emma M. Zessin was born at Omaha, Nebr., November 30, 1883, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Zessin. Her parents moved to Madison when she was two years old. She has resided here since, except for the winters, which she had been spending in Florida since 1914. She never married.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Edward Zessin of Madison, three nieces and two nephews.
