Byron was born in a small community in Nova Scotia Canada called Baker's Settlement. He came to the United States in the 1930's and worked in Detroit with his brother Earl.
When World War II started he joined the Army. After serving in the Army for the United States, he received his American citizenship. He returned to Detroit where he met Juanita Liles. They married in 1945 and moved to New Mexico where her family lived. He bought land in Lea County and farmed in the Knowles Community for 40 years.
He and Juanita had two children, Linda Priscilla and Vivian Alice.
Just a note about the Fancey family, most of the spellings are Fancy without the "e".
Answer to note: Byron was very set that his name be spelled with an "e",
although most of his family spelled Fancey without the "e".
