Joel C. Martin, 73, Joel C. Martin, 73 of Grand Rapids, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007.
Joel was born in Warba to Clyde and Hazel Martin. He attended school in Warba and Grand Rapids and lived most of his life in Grand Rapids. Joel served in the Army Reserve. He married Ruth McKim on Feb. 14, 1954. He was a railroad telegrapher and then worked for Lake Country Power from 1961 until retiring in 1995.
Joel loved hunting, fishing, playing softball, traveling to Alaska and woodworking.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, and one brother.
Surviving family includes his wife, Ruth; daughter Sue (Greg) Bode of Eden Prairie; son Dana (Jodi) Martin of St. Paul; and four grandchildren, Connor, Alyssa, Logan, and Gabrielle.
Services: Visitation is one hour prior to the 2 p.m. memorial service on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007 in the United Methodist Church in Grand Rapids.
