Carl "Charlie" Louis Petri was the son of Heinrich "Henry" Petri and Friedricke [Bock] Petri, both german immigrants to Austin, Texas in 1885. Charlie first married Eleanor E. Wallace about 1910 in Austin, Travis County, Texas. Charlie and Eleanor had three sons: Carl Henry Petri, an infant son who died at birth, and Ralph Charley Petri. After a failed marriage, Charlie Petri moved to San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas and join the San Antonio Police Department where he rose to the position of Investigative Detective. On October 18, 1923 Charlie Petri married Marion Lucille Kinley in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas. Charlie and Marion had four children: Richard Lonnie Petri, Edwin Robert Petri, Alice Mae Petri and Louise Freida Petri.
Carl "Charlie" Louis Petri was preceeded in death by his parents, Henry & Friedricke Petri, his brother, Henry Petri Jr., his sister, Lillie [Petri] Jennings Estes, two sons, an unnamed infant and Edwin Robert Petri. Charlie is survivied by his wife, Marion [Kinley] Petri, sons Carl Henry, Ralph Charley, and Richard Lonnie Petri, daughters Alice Mae [Petri] VanHorn and Louise Freida [Petri] Russell, and twelve grandchildren: Kenneth Petri, Richard "Dickie" Petri, Diane Petri, Russell VanHorn, David Petri, Kathy VanHorn, Scott VanHorn, Kevin Petri, Lynette Russell, Cindy Russell, Karen VanHorn and Stephanie Russell.
