Mrs. Carter was born October 6, 1923 in Huntington, Texas to the late Lollie (Davis) and Henry Pittman, and died Thursday, January 22, 2009 in a local nursing home. Mrs. Carter was a lifetime resident of Angelina County. She loved quilting and homemaking, including cooking, sewing and taking care of her family. Mrs. Carter was a member of Lufkin¹s First Baptist Church, the Homebound Group I Sunday school class, and a former member of the Friendship Sunday school class. Her chains are gone, she¹s been set free. Her God and Savior has set her free, and like a flood His mercy reigned. Unending love, amazing grace.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Charles E. and Linda Carter; grandsons, Tim Carter and wife Amy, John Carter and wife Crystal; granddaughter, Charlinda Wells and husband Cary; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister and brother-in-law, Jo and M.C. Delaney.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Charles Carter, Jr.; and sisters, Wilma Jean Pittman, Kathleen Ainsworth and Merleen Bush.
