Jocelyn died on June 28, 2010 in Ridgewood, New Jersey after a prolonged battle with cancer.She was born in Elmhurst, New York and grew up in Emerson then Ridgewood, NJ and graduated from Ridgewood High School. She graduated from NYU with a BA degree in Anthropology and History of Art, then obtained a paralegal degree from the New School of Manhattan. She subsequently took courses in Spanish literature and foreign governments at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico. After her return to New York she joined Lehman Brothers as a Paralegal, she subsequently worked for many years for USB financial services as a senior client representative. She lived in Manhattan then moved back to Ridgewood during her illness. Jocelyn spent most of her time helping others she considered less fortunate . When in college she volunteered for UNICEF, helped in soup kitchens and participated in an organization to help provide comfort for hospitalized AIDS patients in Manhattan. She was vested in the 3rd Order of the Dominican Sisters on June 1st 2010 in her hospital bed. She is survived by her parents Alex and Liliane Ackad of Ridgewood, NJ, her sister Carol McSherry of Cincinnati, Ohio, her nephew Luke McSherry and nieces Kelsey and Sabrina McSherry. Also surviving her maternal grandmother Yvonne Ibrahim of Montreal, Canada.
