Samuel Meek Marshall, 81, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010, after a long, courageous battle with leukemia. Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at Lakeside Baptist Church. Interment: Acton Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Wiley Funeral Home. Sam was born Jan. 17, 1929, in Temple to Henry Taylor and Mattie Estelle Marshall. He grew up in Sweetwater and attended Schriener Military Institute and Texas Christian University. He ran many successful businesses, including Marshall Furniture, Texas Plumbing Supply and his true love, Samco Oil and Gas. As residents of Granbury for many years, Sam and his wife, Ardis, were members of Lakeside Baptist Church and the Power and Light Sunday School Class. Sam loved ranching, flying and his beloved dog, Ellie. Both Sam and Ardis enjoyed traveling with their many friends. He will most be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Lance Mandell and his assistant, Lorena, the nurses at Baylor All Saints Infusion Center, friend, Dr. Chuck Coffee, and Gina Forrest from Grace Hospice. Survivors: Loving wife, Ardis Marshall; daughters, Sherry Pomykal and husband, Ray, and Debbie Scherer and husband, Chuck; grandchildren, Charlie and John Pomykal, Charlie and Catherine Scherer; and Ardis' children, Steve Moore and fiancee, Debbie Hart, Rick Moore and wife, Jeanette, and Laurie Doran and husband, David, and grandchildren, Kelsey Moore, Dustin Moore, Marjorie Hartwell, Aaron Hartwell and Will Hartwell.
