Mrs. Nettie Rhodes

Mrs. Nettie May Rhodes, 91, of 4500 Live Oak, who came to Texas in a covered wagon in 1871, died Tuesday at her home.

Born in Lansing, Mich., she lived in Topeka, Kan., before moving to Texas. Her early life was spent on a farm seven miles from Grapevine in Tarrant County. A Dallas resident for the past 60 years, she was the widow of Thomas V. Rhodes.

She was the only surviving charter member of the History Club and a charter member of the Central Christian Church.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Ed. Pittman of Dallas, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services are pending at Sparkman's Funeral home, 2115 Ross.

Graveside services for Mrs. Nettie May Rhodes, 91, of 4500 Live Oak, will be held Thursday at the Flower Mound Cemetery in Grapevine.

The funeral procession will leave Sparkman's Funeral Home 2115 Ross, at 10:30 a.m. for the cemetery, the Rev. E.C. Rowland will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Williams, Howard Maddox, Roy G. Box, E.T. Earnest, Dr. Gordon K. Wallace and Dr. Carl Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Fire Station No. 8.

Mrs. Rhodes, a Dallas resident for 60 years, died in her home Tuesday.
