Ottie Darnell -- Bradley
Visitation for Ottie Ray Darnell, 86, of Bradley, will be from 5 p.m. Tuesday until the 7 p.m. funeral service at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser. He died Friday March 2, 2007 at Riverside Medical Center. Mr. Darnell retired in 1983 from General Foods after 27 years of service. He was born April 1, 1920, in Buckner, the son of James Madison and Elsie Overturf Darnell. His wife, the former Mildred Bertha Greenwood, whom he married May 29, 1941, in Jackson, Mo., is deceased. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945 as a Tech 5 in the Ordnance Division. He achieved the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one silver star, three overseas service bars and a Good Conduct Medal. He was of the Protestant faith. Surviving are two grandsons, William and Mabel Lemna of McDonough, Ga., Michael and Kim Lemna of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Bertha Swisher of Decatur; and one niece.
