Ada Belle Wesson Threet was born in 1884 and died in my home in my arms on Jan. 12, 1960. She was the loving wife of John Franklin Threet, my grandfather. She was a long time native of Florence, Alabama.

She was the daughter of Oliver Winston Wesson and Susan Theodocia Craven Wesson. She had 9 siblings, one of whom worked at Oak Ridge in the nuclear research department during WWII.

She was the mother of four children, Iona Mae Threet Barkley of Florence, Alabama, William Oliver Threet, who died at the very young age of 2, Erin Louise Threet Kimbrel Hamilton most recently of Arizona and Martha "Marty" Katherine Threet Barber Lyle, of Chattanooga, TN. She had 6 grandchildren, Patsy Kimbrel, Donald Kimbrel, Kerry Kimbrel, all deceased, two beautiful twins, Sharon and Shannon Kimbrel and Carol Anne Barber. She had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I invite my cousins to add the names of their children and grandchildren, if they wish to do so. My children, her great grandchildren are William Kirk Taylor and Shannon Lyle Taylor Gilliam. She has two great-great grandchildren through my two children.

I knew my grandmother to be a loving mother and grandmother. My mother, Marty was born when she was 36 and she died just 40 years later, when I was only 15. But, she lived with my mom and me in the winter so that someone would be home when I came home from school. She spent the summers with her other two living children. I am adding her photograph, because she was such a beautiful woman, even in her later years. My mother once told me the Wesson women all had beautiful skin and if I was lucky, I would inherit it. I don't know about me, but I think my twin cousins certainly did. I hope they will add to this obituary.

I have one wonderful memory to add of my grandmother - she always beat me at checkers!! Not so wonderful then, but sort of is now.

My grandmother would never admit how much she cared about my step-father, Mont Lyle. But the last two words she ever said were "Where's Mont".

I have some sad memories that I will not share on this forum, but for the most part, my memories of my grandmother were good. I appreciate Find-A-Grave for allowing me the opportunity to share this memory of my grandmother.
