CLARENDON, Aug. 5. - (AP) - J.B. Baird, 71, pioneer of the Texas Panhandle, died of paralysis at his home here Wednesday evening and was buried in the family plot in the Citizen's cemetery Thursday. Jeptha B. Bard [sic] was born in Gonzales county Texas, in 1855 and came to the Panhandle early in 1882. He settled near Mobetti [sic], Wheeler county, where he was sheriff for four years. He married Miss Mattie Fleming of North Carolina in 1894 and moved in 1896 to his ranch where they lived until 1915, when they came to Clarendon.
