Donald James Remington, 44, of Pittsburg, died Monday, February 25, 2001 in Pittsburg.
    He was born May 14, 1956 in Pittsburg, KS., a son of James Butler and Hazel Darlene (Robbins) Remington, Sr.
    At an early age, he moved with his family to Illinois. He attended Sugar Grove Grade School in Illinois and graduated from Kaneland High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1981 until 1984. He worked as a pipe fitter at Midwest Pipe Line Construction in Chicago and later at Print Excel in Girard since 1988. He attended the Victory Life Center in Pittsburg. He was a former member of the George C. Brown Post #26, American Legion of Girard and an avid golfer.
    He is survived by: two sons, Donald Jay Remington of the home in Pittsburg and Joseph Shane Remington of Pittsburg; his mother Hazel Darlene Strause of Yorkville, IL; his step-father Carl Strause of Yorkville, IL; three brothers: Jerry Dean Remington of Aurora, IL, Robert Rex Remington of Sugar Grove, IL, John Wayne Remington of DeKalb, IL; two sisters: Candice Remington of Springfield, IL and Janice Kay Remington of Yorkville, IL; two step-brothers: Jeff Strause of Sandwich, IL and Terry Strause of Columbia, MO; one step-sister: Carla Ann Strause of Farlington, KS; and numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
    He was preceded in death by his father, James Butler Remington, Jr.; his grandparents; James Butler Remington, Sr., Laura Fernetti, and Ralph and Hazel Robbins; and two uncles, Donald J. Robbins and Ralph Eugene Robbins.
    Funeral services for Donald James Remington will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Pastor Don Talent officiating. Burial will be in the McCune Cemetery with flag folding and presentation by the George C. Brown Post #26, American Legion of Girard. The family will receive friends from 4 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday. A memorial has been established to the Donald and Shane Remington Education Fund and these may be left at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W. St. John, Box 258, Girard 66743, by those wishing to make their remembrances in this manner.
