Mary Ann was the daughter of William and Fanny Cheatham Hicks. She married Pleasant, the son of Moses and Sally Clark Graham, on May 28, 1868 in Garrard County. Their family, later, began using the Grimes surname. Mr. and Mrs. Grimes were the parents of William, Lizzie, Josephine, Fannie, Mahala, Sallie, Eddie, Mildred and Mary Grimes.
The couple's home was always full of laughter and good cheer. Some of my grandfather's happiest memories, as a boy, were of "going visiting" to his Grandpa and Grandma Grimes' home. Mrs. Grimes passed away from the effects of mitral valve regurgitation.
