1968 Obituary California
"Heart Attack Fatal to Herbert Fleishhacker Jr.

Herbert Fleishhacker Jr, retired insurance executive and formerly a prominent banker, died yesterday of an apparent heart attack. He was returning to his Burlingame home from a duck-hunting trip when stricken.

Mr. Fleishhacker, 61, was vice president of the Seeley & Co. insurance agency, and when that company merged with Landish, Pelletier and Parish agency in 1958, he became a vice president of the surviving firm. He has served for 11 years as a valued director of Del Monte Properties Co., according to Samuel F.B. Morse, chairman of the board. As director, he was the second generation of his family closely connected with Del Monte – his father having helped found the company and being a partner of Morse for many years.
Prior to entereing the insurance business, Mr. Fleishhacker was a vice president of the old Crocker-Anglo National Bank, which was later merged into the Crocker-Citizens National Bank.

An active sportsman, he was an All-American fullback at Stanford, and outstanding collegiate shotputter, a champion speedboat racer at Lake Tahoe, and a former president of the National Retriever Club.
During World War II, he served as flag secretary to Adm. J. W. Reeves Jr., commander of Naval Air Transport, wining three commendations and rising to the rank of commander.

He is survived by his wife, the former Countess Lawton Filer Wurmbrand; a sister, Mrs. Martin Mittau of Atherton; and two nieces, Mrs. Pierre Ehein and Mrs. Ramon Raike, both of San Francisco.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at Crosby-N. Gray & Company, Burlingame. Burial will be in Cypress Lawn Memorial Park."
