Hermann and his wife Maria arrived in America on the german ship S.S. ITALIA, Captained by Fr, Reuter, on 29 April 1892, landing in New York, probably at the newly opened Ellis Island. They were six out of the 2,360 passengers aboard.
With Herman and Maria were their children Anna(13), Martha(4), Willy (8)and August(10) . They had daughter Alma Bertha in Milwaukee in 1893.
The family came from near Koldemanz in the village of Rensekow, Greifenberg in Pommern, Prussia. Hermann was a farmer in the old country. His parents were Peter Frädrich and Carlotta Friedericke Schalow of Rensekow. He married Maria SAUM in 1878 in Germany.
The family lived at 1170 10th St, in Milwaukee. His death certificate states he was a Roofer prior to his death. He was buried 21 February.
