George was the executive director of the Miss West Central Ohio Scholarship Program, a preliminary to the Miss Ohio/Miss America pageants and had many other interests that he pursued. George also provided me with my first opportunity to judge a Miss America preliminary pageant back in 1983, which is how we first met. After that, I got to be part of the group that produced eight Miss WCO pageants from 1986-1993. And we followed our 'girls' to Mansfield to watch them compete at Miss Ohio each year. I wish you were still here, George. Going to Mansfield for Miss Ohio has never been quite the same without you.
George was survived by his wife Nancy (Heintz) Martin. They were married in 1980.
