Elvin Smith Permenter, age 84, of Center passed away Saturday evening, April 10, 2010 at his residence in Center.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 12, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Center with Rev. Carol Turner and Rev. Greg McGill officiating, interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.

Elvin was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Center.

Mr. Elvin Permenter worked for Sante Fe Railroad as Station Manager, he was also a dairy farmer and retired after 22 years as a Service Tech for Tyson Foods.

Survivors include:
Wife: Yvonne Permenter of Center
Son: James Austin Permenter of Center
Daughter: Belinda Loftice and husband Matt of Center
Sisters: Frances Collum and husband Jack of Shreveport, La., Jean Jenning and husband Clyde of Roswell, Ga.
Brother: Darrell Campbell of Columbia, SC.
Granddaughters: Michelle Permenter, Megan Loftice, Crystal Crews, April Miller and husband Kevin
Grandson: John Michael Stirman and wife Robin
4 Great Grandchildren: Campbell Beck, Austin Miller, Jake Miller and Madison Stirman
Sister-in-law: Johnnye Kramer of Center
