Hazel "Maxine" Dutton

A memorial service was held on Friday, January 11, 2002 at the United Methodist Church, Osage, for Hazel "Maxine" Dutton, age 84, of Mason City, formerly of Osage. Hospice Chaplin Rev. Kathy Graves officiated. Inurnment will be at the Riceville Cemetery at a later date. Hazel died Tuesday, January 8, 2002 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Hazel "Maxine" Dutton was born April 4, 1917 in Dows the daughter of Benjamin and Maude (Stuck) Rice. She was united in marriage to George Dutton on July 23, 1936 in Eagle Grove. They moved to a farm north of Riceville in 1953 and farmed for many years. George died Oct. 16, 1989.

Maxine was a member of Oakdale Township Women's Club and the Kitchen Klatter Band. She baked cakes for all occasions, loved music and played the piano, quilted, crocheted and took care of her plants.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Carmen Joyce Jones and an infant grandson.

Those that survive include her three daughters, Jacqueline Gott of Mason City, Sandra Krause and her husband, Howard of Orchard, Karen Lenz and her friend Bob Johnson of Osage; one son, Richard Lee Dutton and his wife, Betty of Onamia, Minnesota; a granddaughter that Maxine raised, Melanie Muth and her husband, Dave of Dougherty; a sister, Marcine Cooper and her husband, Bluferd of Dows; 10 grandchiledren, 19 great-grandchildren and 23 step-grandchildren.
