Roy Lee RL Williams was born to the farm family of Jimmy and Cordia CORDIE Arbella Hodges on GarrisonRoad near Martinsville, Nacogdoches, Texas....known to his wife's family as 'RL' his siblings were Ruthie, Ruby, Clifton, Elizabeth, Audrey and JohnDWilliams. He attended Martinsville HighSchool. The year he was 24, October 14, 1940, he travelled to Dallas and registered for the Army. He trained in MarfaTX and served for one year, October 1940 - October 1941. In February 1943 he was called back into the military for active duty and then chose to marry Miss EraFAYE Jones on August 27, 1943. RL was transferred overseas that September 1943. Sometime after his transfer to Italy he was wounded. By January 13, 1944 he was reported as MissingInAction. It is thought at this time he was imprisoned in an Italian military camp. By June 15, 1944 he was found and returned to action. He returned home to Center, Texas for a short furlough sometime after that June date. It is thought he was discharged around January of 1945. During his time served in WW2 RL fought in Africa, Sicily and Italy and was awarded 7 medals. RL and Faye were the parents of
