The Columbia Record, Columbia, South Carolina, 19 Jan 1951, Friday, Page 12: Traveler Suffers Fatal Heart Attack. An out-of-state traveler died at Columbia's Union Station late yesterday while in the process of changing trains, police said today. The deceased, identified as George W Loyd of Des Arc, Missouri, reportedly arrived on a train from Ashville, North Carolina, and was changing trains when he toppled over backwards from a platform at the Union shed. He was rushed to the Columbia hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival by a staff physician. A report from Richland County Coroner William A Plott established today that the death was due to natural causes and resulted from a heart attack. The body was returned this morning to the deceased's Missouri hometown for interment, Coroner Plott said.
