He was born in Person County, grew up on a tobacco farm, and graduated from Helena High School, Timberlake.
He was employed by the A&P Store where he was the produce manager and later store manager. He later began his own business in convenience markets. Mr. Lunsford served on the ABC Board and CCB Board. He enjoyed dancing, blue grass music and singing.
Surviving are his wife, Geraldine Parker Lunsford; two sons, Dillion Lunsford, Hurdle Mills and Craig Lunsford and wife, Carla, Hurdle Mills; one sister, Vinnie L. Long, Hurdle Mills; one brother, Bonnie Ray Lunsford and wife, Judy, Roxboro; and three grandchildren, Thomas Lunsford, Tyler Lunsford, and Collin Lunsford.
