She was born to Jim and Ruby Trammell on September 6, 1923. She graduated from Coleman High School, and went to work at Blackland's Flying School in Waco, Texas. As part of the war effort she learned how to repair airplanes, and was one of many known as "Rosie the Riveter."** In 1946, she married Lee Roy Strickland, and they moved to San Angelo, Texas.
Pauline was a long time member of the Cross Road Assembly of God in San Angelo, Texas, and a devoted Christian. She taught Sunday School for over twenty-eight years. More recently she attended Church of Acts in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Strickland; her parents Ruby and Jim Trammell; two brothers, Vonceal and James Trammell; two sisters, Betty Creek and Peggy Henson.
She is survived by her three children, a daughter, Blenda Bligh, and husband Alan of Corpus Christi, Texas; a son, Michael Strickland of Corpus Christi, Texas; a son, Terry Strickland and his wife Martha Strickland of Austin, Texas; Five grandchildren, Quin Bligh (Luisa), Alanna Verhaalen (Joel), Kasey Strickland (Ashley), Cody Strickland (Kim), and Olivia Strickland; Three great grandchildren, Kinzie Verhaalen, Elijah Strickland, and Hadley Strickland; one sister, Billie Wells of Abilene, Texas; one brother, Donald Trammell (Sara Jo) of Lufkin, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Service will be held at 3:00 p.m Sunday July 25, 2010 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel and interment will be in Coleman, Texas at the Coleman Cemetery. Pallbearers are Kasey Strickland, Cody Strickland, Quin Bligh, and Joel Verhaalen. Pastor Steve Hamm of Cross Road Assembly of God in San Angelo, Texas will be officiating.
Memorials may be made in her name to American Diabetes Foundation or the American Heart Association.
