Vernie Long, 65, of Borger, died in North Texas Hospital at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9. Born in Fannin County in 1905, Mr. Long came to Collingsworth County with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Long in 1916. He attended school in Wellington. He was married to Miss Pauline Owens in 1923 and she preceded him in death in 1965. Mr. Long had lived in Borger 29 years and he was employed as a projectionist for the Plains and Morley Theatres. He had been in failing health two years. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Dona Long; a son, J. B. Long pf Frost; two daughters, Mrs. Leon Fields of Stinnett and Mrs. J. L. Grant of Anaheim, Calif.; a brother and three sisters, Ralph Long, Mrs. H.C. Templeton, Mrs. Olin Cook and Mrs. Claude Caison of Wellington; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
