Jack L. 'Cactus Jack' Chilcote, 86, Altoona, died Friday at home. He was born in Altoona to Arthur F. & Mary (Miller) Chilcote. He married Althea M. Oswalt on Dec. 5, 1947, in Altoona and she died Feb. 16, 2008. Survived by daughters: Carol Pensyl; Donna Miller & husband, Bill; Nancy Luciano & husband, Philip and Linda Conrad & husband, Randy, all Altoona; sons: Brian W. Chilcote, Altoona; Jack L. Chilcote Jr. & wife, Betsy, Altoona and Terry Chilcote & wife, Kathleen, Mechanicsville, VA; 16 grandchildren: Amber Savino, Dawn Miller, Angela Edmondson, Shawn Pensyl, Haley Chilcote, Christopher Conrad, Eric Pensyl, Philip Luciano, Jaclyn Chilcote, Lana Conrad, Jacob Chilcote, Bridget Chilcote, Danielle Chilcote, Ian Chilcote, Caitlyn Chilcote and Ellie Chilcote; gr. grandson, Matthew Savino and a great-granddaughter. Predeceased by granddaughter, Jessica Anne Chilcote. Jack was a 1941 graduate of Altoona High School and Penn State Univ. with an associate degree in communications technology. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 476th Ordnance Evacuation Company in North Africa and Italy. Jack retired in 1980 as a communications technician from Penelec after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society, Swiss Rifle Club, Unter Uns and Post 3, Altoona VFW. Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Altoona. Interment, Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona.
