HOLTON- Ronalda "Ronnie" L. Barnes, 91, of Holton, KS passed away January 28, 2010 at Medicalodges Jackson County. She was born July 6, 1918 in Aurora, KS the daughter of Fred J. and Nellie M. Bigbee Marcotte.

She had lived in the Holton community since 1995 and had previously lived in Whiting, KS and Colorado. She worked at Holton Hospital as a cook and in housekeeping for 3-4 years and had worked at the Jackson County Court House.
She was attending Circleville Christian Church.

Ronnie married James L. Barnes on April 5, 1962 in Holton. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1995.

She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Dorothy Gerstner, Maxine Ponton, Maurine Troudt, Fredia Lemke and Betty Markham; three brothers, Bill, Elmer and Leo Marcotte and a grandson, Nathan Hendren.

Survivors include three sons, Charles Koester of Blaine, WA, Richard Koester of Lawrence, KS and Fred Pearce of LaCenter, WA; a step-daughter Melany Barnes of Wichita, KS; two sisters, Clara Bell Lemke of Hastings, NE and Marie Brown of Atascadero, CA; a brother Don Marcotte of Fillmore, CA; 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Circleville Christian Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
