Jan Richard Cox, 73, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009. He was born Sept. 9, 1935, in Detroit, Mich., and moved to San Antonio in 1943.
He was a member of the National Guard from 1954 until 1957, and the Poor Boys Car Club from 1953 until his passing. Jan worked for Sears from 1958 until1968.
Preceded in death by: parents, Charles Richard and Doris V. (Peterson) Cox; grandson, Aaron Richard Cox Jr.
Survivors include: wife of 24 years, Grace (Hesskew) Cox; son, Aaron Richard Cox (Terry); daughter, Susan Cox; sons, Richard Ray Moehrig (Vickie), Robert Wayne Moehrig, and Roger Burton Moehrig; 6 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Ian, Richard, and Kurt Cox; sisters, Karen Crysdale and Kathleen Cox.
Visitation was held Monday, May 11, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.
A funeral service was held Monday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Gale officiating.
Interment followed in the Marcelina Cemetery in Wilson County.
