***** SEVERAL OTHER MISHAPS*****

An automobile accident at the corner of Main and Prairie streets Saturday evening, as W. R. Crume, who lives west of Elkhart, was driving into town in his Oakland truck to do his Saturday shopping, cost the life of his 10-year old daughter, Rebecca Rose Crume, who with another daughter, Irene, aged 8, was a passenger in the one seat of the car.
Mr. Crume, who had come into Elkhart via Prairie street from his home south of the Lincoln highway about a mile from station No. 15 had just turned his car to the left on Main street, when the collision took place.
A Hudson coach, owned and driven by Russell Bailey, 29, who lives east of Elkhart near the Middlebury street road, was the other machine in the crash. The tragedy took place at about 8 p.m., as the traffic light at the busy intersection was changing.

********* Gashed by Glass *********

The girl was hurled into the windshield of the truck when the two cars collided, breaking a large hole in the glass with sharp edges that cut deep gashes into the child's throat. She was rushed to the Elkhart General Hospital in a car driven by Ivan Carlson, of rural route No. 6, but died before reaching the hospital.
Her sister, who was thrown out of the car and onto the pavement was rendered unconscious for a period of about 15 minutes, and was also taken to the hospital in the Carlson car.
Mr. Crume was unhurt except for a few scratches and together with the injured daughter he was taken to his home Saturday evening by his sister, Mrs. H. C. Harrington, of Okema street. The injured daughter was resting favorably at her home yesterday but suffering pain from minor injuries to her face and body.

******* CAR BADLY DAMAGED*******

Mr. Crume said yesterday that he was on Main street with his car before the light changed, and that he was going slowly to make the turn when the Hudson car coming from the north, entered the intersection.
Bailey, who is employed by an oil company, could not be located today. His car was towed to a garage for extensive repairs to the front end and one side, while the truck was left standing overnight at one side of the No. 2 fire station driveway at the northeast corner of the intersection. Damages to the front end of the truck were heavy, especially expensive to Mr. Crume be cause of the fact that the machine and painting business.
The body of the girl was taken to the Ed Walley funeral home Saturday evening. She was the oldest of six children, and is survived by the mother and father, Irene, age 8, Arthur, 7, Hazel, 5, Alice, 3 and Jeanette, 2.
Funeral services are to be held at the home Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock, with the Rev. I. P. Moore officiating. Burial will take place in Rice cemetery.
