Mr. Wilbur R. Crume

Mr. Wilbur R. Crume, 63, Rt. 1, died this morning at his home after an illness of two years. He was born on Sept. 23, 1899, in South Whitley and had lived most of his life in Elkhart area. Mr. Crume married the former Violet Barhydt on Aug. 23, 1931. He was a self-employed interior decorator.
Surviving are his wife, four sons, Leonard, William and Richard, all of Elkhart, and Ralph of Goshen; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry Sharum, San Diego, CA., and Mrs. Paul Lenzenby, Elkhart; three brothers, Earl, Elkhart, George, Flora, Ind., and John of South Whitley; three sisters, Mrs. Lemuel Poyser and Mrs. Audrey Harrington both of Elkhart, and Mrs. Barbara Prestson, Constantine; and 17 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, and burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 tonight.

THE GRIEF MY GRANDFATHER ENDURED

My grandfather dealt with a lot of grief in his life time. His father, Rev. John Henry Crume past on Oct., 19, 1919, his mother Sarah Elizabeth (Mawhorter) Crume past on Dec. 28, 1926, his daughter, Mary Lou was born dead on Jul. 25, 1927, his daughter Rebecca Rose was killed in an auto accident on Jun. 16, 1928, his son Wilbur died during child birth on Nov. 29, 1929 and his first wife, Mary Marie Crume died on Dec. 11, 1929, from complications after giving birth to their son Wilbur on Nov. 29th.

Wilbur Rose, was the eleventh and last child born to the Rev. John Henry and Sarah Elizabeth (Mawhorter) Crume.

Wilbur married his first wife Mary Marie Fulford on Apr. 25, 1917 in Goshen, Elkhart Co. IN. They were married by Calvin A. Huber. To this union ware born eight children. Two sons, Arthur W. and Wilbur, and six daughters, Rebecca Rose, Irene, Hazel, Alyce, Dorothy Jeanette and Mary Lou.

His first wife preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 1929. Also preceded in death by two daughters Rebecca Rose and Mary Lou, and son Wilbur Crume.

Wilbur married his second wife Violet Pauline Barhydt on Aug. 23, 1931 in Elkhart, IN. To this union were born five children. Three sons, Leonard Raymond, William Richard and Ralph Earl and two daughters, Athena May and Jacquline Diane Crume.
