Annie was the daughter of Daniel Prince and Mary Ann Stokes. She was born in England and in 1912 traveled to Canada as a "mail order bride" to marry William Cheesman. They settled in Rosetown Saskatchewan where the couple had their first 5 children, William Archibald, Edward Ralph, Helena Mary, Gwendolin Grace and Sidney Basil. In 1919 the family returned to England where the couple would separate shortly before the birth of their sixth child Olive June. William would return to Canada alone, Annie and the kids stayed in England. In 1924 Annie brought the children back to Canada where 4 were place for adoption in Ontario. Taking 2 boys west with her she would remarry in 1926 to Jesse James Rule and have two more children, Raymond Thomas Rule and Rupert Jesse Rule.
