Mrs. Will (Mary) Brumbalow, 79, retired Gatesville school teacher, died Sunday morning in the local hospital.
She had been in failing heath for some time.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Hopkins and Rev. Plez Todd officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery with Scott's in charge.
Mrs. Brumbalow was born April 29, 1898, in Goodwater, Ala., and came to Texas with her parents, Jefferson P. and Margaret King, as a child. She was reared in Comanche.
She began her teaching career shortly after finishing high school. She was married to Will Brumbalow, a school teacher and administrator, in 1925. They taught at several places in Texas before coming to Coryell County. Mrs. Brumbalow taught at Flat and Gatesville before her retirement in 1963.
Mr. Brumbalow died in 1964.
Mrs. Brumbalow was a member of the First United Methodist Church and taught a Sunday School class there for several years. She was also a member of Gamma Alpha chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, an international society of women educators.
Survivors include two brothers, Jefferson P. King Jr. of Fort Worth and Robert King of Clifton; and five sisters, Mrs. O. L. Miller and Mrs. O. F. Nicholas, both of Dallas; Mrs. A. D. McClintock of Palestine; Mrs. A. L. Laznick of Eunice. N. M.; and Mrs. T. T. Marshall of Comanche.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Brumbalow's funeral were Johnie Evans, Marvin Evans, Bobby Evans, James Evans, Billy Evans and Clarence Edwin Bales.
