An early pioneer of Dawson County he emagrated from Quebec, Canada in 1888. The Nebraska census from 1900 says Gus was a day laborer from Canada, he could read, write, and speak English. However he suffered from Asthma so was unable to work hard much of his adult life. He had been a horse trader and Charlotte baked bread which they traded with the indians in the area. The early photo is of Charlotte and Gus with their first child, Mary Eleanor Goochey born, 23 Feb 1890.
