Walter D. (Dub) Acuff, 82, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2003. He was a native of Jacksonville, were he graduated from Landon High School Class of 1938. Dub retired from Southern Bell with 45 years of service. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and Arlington United Methodist Church. He enjoyed many hours as an amateur radio operator, call sign W4DQV. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Claire Acuff; daughter, Priscilla Horne (Pat); son, Walter D. Acuff, Jr.; 5 grandchildren, and his sister, Doris Chappell. Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2003 at 11am Oaklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials donations may be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society.
