History of the temporary burial site of Ida McKinley, youngest daughter of President William McKinley and First Lady Ida (Saxton) McKinley. Ida was initially interred in Canton Ohio's West Lawn Cemetery. On October 10, 1907 both Ida and her older sister Katie were exhumed from the McKinley family plot in West Lawn Cemetery and reinterred in the north wall of the McKinley National Memorial, which was dedicated on September 30, 1907. On that same date, the bodies of both President William McKinley and First Lady Ida (Saxton) McKinley were removed from their temporary resting place in the Werts Receiving Vault and interred in their marble sarcophagi at the center of the Memorial's rotunda.

Cause of Death: phlebitis and epileptic seizure
