Husband of Elnora Glenn Conner, daughter of John Riley Conner and Florence Glenn. They were married on November 29, 1937. She preceded him in death on September 9, 1948.

Father of Bobby Noel Shipp and Sandra Beth Shipp McKaskle.

He served in the Civil Conservation Camp in El Paso in 1933 and then in Lamesa from 1935 to 1936.

He worked as an auto mechanic all of his life working for Blocker Chevrolet, Eiland Ford, Carl Clardy, Rhodes Motor, retiring from Blocker Oil Company in 1989.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Stanton, a member of the Masonic Lodge for 65 years, and served with the Stanton Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years.

He was an avid hunter and had a lifelong love of music playing the fiddle.
