Pfc. C. B. Taylor
Military funeral services for Pfc. Charles Byron Taylor, 20, 1944 war casualty in France, will be conducted at 10 a.m. today in Woodlawn memorial park.
The Rev. James L. Sullivan will officiate. Private Taylor was son of Dr. and Mrs. O. W. Taylor of Pembroke ave., Belle Meade.
He died June 16, 1944, of wounds received 12 days earlier while serving with a combat infantry unit.
Born in Sturgis, Ky., he came to Nashville in July, 1933. A graduate of Hillsboro high school, he had completed his freshman year at Peabody college when he entered the army in July, 1943.
He was vice president of the junior college student body at Peabody. A member of the Peabody band, he played trumpet in the Vanderbilt marching band during football games.
He was a member of Belmont Heights Baptist church.
Private Taylor received his basic training at Fort McClellan, Ala., and was stationed at Fort Meade, Md., a short time before he was sent overseas in December, 1943.
Besides his parents he is survived by a brother, Wilburn L. Taylor of Nashville.
