Joyce Ann Cheesbrew, 73, of Prosperity, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at her home.

Born April 10, 1936, she is the daughter of the late W.M. and Nola Crain.

Joyce enjoyed crafting, decorating her home, and canning. She was well known for her hospitality and opening her home to others. She was very devoted to her family and loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart. Joyce attended the Maynor Freewill Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bill Cheesbrew of Prosperity; son Danny Ray Scott and wife Linda Kay of Denver, N.C.; daughter Karen Denise Duncan and husband Kenneth Ray of Harrisburg, Pa.; grandchildren Billy Scott and wife April of Denver, N.C.; Joshua Scott of Denver, N.C., Caleb Scott of Denver, N.C., Angie Snyder and husband Travis of Harrisburg, Pa., Leslie Scott of Beckley, Kimberly Duncan of Fairfax, Va.; great-grandchildren Daniel and Zeke Scott, Lee and Casey Snyder, Jay and Ashlyn Meadows; brother Ronald Crain and wife Marilyn of Chelsea, Mass.; sister Louise Nettles and husband Cecil of Perry, Fla.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 6, 2009, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Pastor Larry Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Friends may gather with the family 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
