Henry L. Archibald, 85, passed away late Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the IOOF Nursing Home of Ennis.

Henry was born on October 26, 1923 to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lewis Archibald in Mexia, Texas. He married Jeanette Laningham on September 20, 1947 and they made their home in Mexia until moving to Ennis in 1953. Henry served in the United States Army during WWII.

Henry was a member of First Baptist Church of Ennis and was retired from the Texas Highway Department after thirty one years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Archibald of Ennis: three daughters; Sandra Vivian Carroll of Dallas, Deborah Lynne Manning of Ennis and Beverly Donelson of Richardson; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and one grandson.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with funeral services to be Monday, October 19, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Tony Eggleston officiating. Interment to follow at Myrtle Cemetery, Ennis under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
