Lillie May Schrimcher was the daughter of Thomas F. and Mary L. Schrimcher. Lillie married Charles Edwin Roberts on June 20, 1909, in Alvin, Brazoria County, Texas. The Alvin Sun Newspaper described the occasion as a pretty wedding at 4 o'clock on Sunday afternoon at the home of her mother in North Alvin. The newspaper also noted that the bride and groom were very popular among the young people in Alvin and had many friends there. They were married by Rev. Alvin P. Bradford, pastor of the First Methodist Church.
Lillie and Ed had 6 children. They were: Mary Ethel, Emmett Edwin, Earl Finley, Sadie Ellen, Warren and Sybil Jean. Five of the children were born in Alvin, Brazoria County, Texas. Sybil Jean was born in New Mexico in 1927.
The family moved to El Monte, California between 1930 and 1935 where they settled and enjoyed their children and grandchildren. They lived on a mini farm where they had farm animals. The children and grandchildren were a great joy to their lives. Lillie and Ed were called Nanny and Pappy by the family.
Lillie died at age 87, in El Monte California. She is buried next to her husband of 66 years in Rose Hill Memorial Park at Whittier, California.
