ORR, Robert Perry - While it was not unexpected the people of Bentonville were pained to learn of the death of R.P. Orr at his home on South Smartt street at 6 o'clock p.m. yesterday. Deceased was at the ripe old age of 81 years. He had been active until a few months ago when he began to decline in health. His long and useful life passed away gradually and peacefully. Funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian church at 2:30 this {Thursday} afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Baker, and the remains will be interred in the city cemetery immediately after. Deceased had lived in Bentonville about ten years. He had moved here for the purpose of spending the remainder of life in a retired way. He was devoted to his children and grandchildren who surrounded him and ministered to his comfort. He was devoted to hi church and to the cause of christianity and morality generally. He was regarded by all who knew him as an exemplary citizen. How appropriate to die at the allotted age of man with his life work so well done. He will be laid to rest beside his life companion who preceded him to the city of the dead a few months to await the resurrection. The Sun extends condolence to the children and grandchildren. [Benton County Sun - Bentonville, Benton County, Arkansas - August 29, 1907]

Robert Perry Orr, after a long illness and much patient suffering, passed peacefully from this life August 28th, 1907 in the 82d year of his age. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church. The congregation followed to the City Cemetery where his remains were interred. Mr. Orr was born in Miamiville, Ohio March 2d, 1826, being the youngest son in a family of nine children. In 1896 he moved to Bentonville, Ark. where he has lived for the past twelve years. On May 8, 1849 Mr. Orr was united in marriage to Miss Bella W. Lynn. This was a true marriage of mutual and unending affection, which lasted through the vicissitudes of fifty-seven years and even death did not break the affection which bound these two together. About the year 1850 he joined the Presbyterian church. Through all the intervening years he has been a strong and faithful Christian, devoted to duty, loyal to Christ. He was a man of sterling integrity and enjoyed the esteem of all who knew him. He was peculiarly devoted to his family. He leaves behind to mourn his loss two daughters, another as near to him as a daughter, six grandchildren, many relatives and a host of friends. All his family were devoted to him. During his last days they left nothing undone that could in any way minister to his comfort. We will sadly miss this beloved man from the church and from the circle of our friends. Our sympathy goes with his sorrowing family and may the blessing of a godly father rest upon them. Pastor. [Benton County Democrat - Bentonville, Benton County, Arkansas - September 5, 1907]
