Altman Dies of Injuries in Car Accident
James Frederick Altman, Jr, 18, of Route 10, died in St Vincent's Hospital at 5:10 am yesterday of injuries received when his car overturned on Normandy Blvd Friday night. Road patrolman said the youth lost control of his automobile as he was attempting to pass another car. The machine flipped over four times, and Altman suffered a brain concussion, internal injuries and a fractured collar bone. Harry Busbee of Route 10, a passenger in Altman's car was reported in fair condition in St Vincent's Hospital yesterday. A third passenger, Donald Wynn, also of Route 10, was treated at the hospital for minor injuries and discharged. Altman, a salesman, was graduated from Robert E Lee High School last year. He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Altman, Sr., three brothers, Richard, David and Stanley Altman, and a sister, Shirley Altman, all of the home; the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lem Coleman; the paternal grandmother, Mrs. J. H. Altman and a great-grandmother Mrs. Ella Armbuster, all of Jacksonville. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Giddens Funeral Home.
