Gerald A. "Doc" BOWEN

Beloved husband, father, brother, friend and a talented artist went to be with his Lord, February 8, 2006. Gerald was born March 31, 1929 in West Seattle, the second son of Alex and Ruth (Moody) Bowen. Survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Audrey Bowen and his two daughters, Julie and Karen Bowen; Brothers, Richard (Barbra) and Leroy (Virginia) Bowen; twin sister Genevieve (Jack) Bannecker; sister-in-law, Marylou (John) Heffernan and close friend of the family, Don Florey.

Attended West Seattle high and graduated from Broadway high school. Spent 2 years serving in the Army during the Korean War, stationed in Bordeaux, France. After his two years of service, Gerald worked at the King Street Station for 10 years and loved every minute of it, as trains were one of the many loves of his life. Gerald also spent 27 years working for Seattle City light, were he met some of his most cherished friends. Nicknamed "Doc" by life long friends, Gerald will be remembered for his comical wit and charm.

He retired at the age of 58 and lived in Kenmore, Washington were he dedicated his life to his family, friends and his church. During his retired years, Gerald learned oil painting; old cars and trains were the common themes of his work. Painting was just one of his many hobbies, as photography and gardening were life-long joys of his. A member of the Seattle Dahlia society, Gerald enjoyed growing Dahlias every summer. He won numerous awards for his colorful creations in painting, photography and flowers; his creativity was appreciated by many. Gerald will be greatly missed and will be fondly remembered by his family and friends as a generous, kind and funny man who enriched all of our lives.

To celebrate his life, a Memorial Service will be held February 15th at 2:00 p.m. at Inglewood Presbyterian Church, 7718 NE 141st Street, Bothell WA 98011. In lieu of flowers, please donate in memory of Gerald Bowen to the Northshore Senior Center, 10201 East Riverside Dr. Bothell, WA 98011
