Alta Helen Blackwell, 89, of Fairmont City, Illinois passed away Saturday, June 17, 2000, in Belleville, Illinois. She was born on April 26, 1911 to Elizabeth Guffey. Alta was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Blackwell, parents: two sisters: Lillian Smith and Mary Spencer, and one brother, Raymond Crider. She is survived by one son, Harold Blackwell of Kirkwood, two daughers, Shirley Ayers of Sullivan, Helen Borick of St. Louis, one brother, Roy F. Jones and wife Gladys of Florida: 15 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, June 19, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kenner Cemetery with Ron Bell officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Long Funeral Home in Dixon.
Alta was the daughter of James Edward Jones and Sarah Elizabeth Haines (Haynes). Sarah was married 2d to Linz Edward Crider, and possibly a 3d marriage to Mr. Guffey. At death, she was married to Alpha C. Pritchett
