The first marriage reportedly being to Martha Childress (or perhaps Childers)for which (according to some family sources) vows were exchanged on January 15, 1822, in Knox County, Tennessee. Vows were exchanged with Mary (maiden name uncertain) in the second marriage before the 1850 U S Census, possibly in Walker County, Georgia; but the exact time and place is not known.
