Piketon - Charles Albert Havens, 76, retired farmer of Lucasville Rt. 3, died at 11:15 a.m. Friday at his residence on Salt Creek, near Wakefield. He had been in ill health for some time. Born in Jackson County, June 8, 1876, he was a son of James and Mary Leonard Havens, His wife. Luella, preceded him in death. Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. Orpha Dyke of Clarksburg, Mrs. Myrtle Rose of Wakefield, Mrs. Emma Goode of Lucasville Rt. 3, Mrs. Edna Wyatt of Mechaniesburg, Mrs. Clara Adams, Mrs. Hazel Murray and Mrs. Dora Adams, all of Springfield; five sons, Frank of Sciotoville, Fred of Dayton, and Lloyd, Roy and Ray, all of Springfield; 55 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Martha Shroyer and a brother, Henry, both of Washington Court House. Mr. Havens was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bailey’s Chapel near Wakefield with burial following in the church cemetery under the direction of the Howe Co. Funeral Home of Piketon. Friends may call at the residence until time for the final rites.
