She was raised on the family farm growing watermelons and thinning beets. She would also ride bareback on horse to herd the family's cows. Dora married Robert Edmund (Ed) Draper on March 9, 1933. This marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They had two children, Larry and Eugene.
Many of the kids in the neighborhood throughout the years remember coming to her house for fresh bread, cake, cookies, or candy and a friendly ear. Dora and Ed loved the outdoors. When they were not working they would go on outings up the local canyons. Once a year when their kids were growing up, Ed and Dora would take them, and as many friends as they could fit, to Yellowstone National Park. Ed and Dora both loved to work in the garden and it has been said they had the best looking (and biggest) garden in Smithfield. Dora was active in the LDS church all her life serving in primary, visiting teaching and attending the temple with friends, but her favorite thing was to serve in the nursery with the small children.
Dora is survived by her sons, Larry E. (Mary) Draper of Richmond and Eugene (Susan) Draper of North Ogden; six grand children, Pat (Melissa) Draper, Lee (Amber) Draper, Steven (Candice) Draper, Matt Draper, Alison (Kyle) King, and Danielle (Eric) Pace; 11 great-grandchildren with one on the way; her brother Everett (Betty) Fifield; her brothers - and sisters-in-law Bud (Violet) Draper, Roy (Helen) Draper, Wilma (Ken) Romero, and Donna Fifield.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jeffrey S. Strong and the caring staffs of Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Hospice Alliance of Utah for their efforts these past months to help our mother and grandma to be comfortable.
