Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's Catholic church here this morning at 10:00 a.m. for Robert D. "Bob" Brown, war hero, whose body was returned from overseas on May 13.
Robert D. Brown, a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne division died on "D"-Day in France on June 6, 1944. He was 20 years old.
The local Bingen VFW Post is in charge of the service. Burial will be in the IOOF cemetery here.
Services were held at the Catholic church with arrangements in charge of Gardner's funeral home.
He is the first White Salmon boy to be returned to his hometown for burial.
Business houses remain closed during the service, according to Chamber of Commerce President, Bernard Pollard.
He is survived by his mother and father Dr. and Mrs. D. W. Brown, and two sisters, Mrs. J.B. Byers of B.Z. Corners, Wash., and Mrs. C. E. Vanek of Hood River, Oregon
