JOHNSON RITES ARE SATURDAY

Services will be held Saturday for Freeman Johnson, 81, of 16 1/2 Second Ave. W. who died Wednesday at the Monroe County Hospital following a lingering illness.

The Rev. Clarence Hamilton will officiate at the 1:30 p.m. rites, at the Church of the Open Bible. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery north of Russell. The body is at the Humeston Funeral Home.

Johnson was born Oct. 20, 1891, the son of Gilbert and Aggie Long Johnson. He married Etta Cooper in Albia on Sept. 12, 1912. She survives.

The couple had lived in Moravia until they moved to Albia in February. Johnson was a retired trucker and farmer, and was a member of the Church of the Open Bible.

Surviving are five sons, Guy of San Antonio, Texas, Dwight, Kenneth and Robert of Torrington, Wyo., and Ike of Osceola; two daughters, Helen Underwood of Moravia and Lucille Amoss of route 5,, Albia; one sister, Bessie McCarty of Osceola; 28 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
